If I get one can I use it to scan other vehicles? Like my Mitsubishi Endeavor or Chevy Cavalier?

 

No sir, I tried to scan my friends f-150 and it came up with a error.

 

So they're only good on Dodges/Chryslers?

cool. now the million dollar question that has been asked 1000 times im sure! for a daily driver (no towing) is it worth the $250+ to get it. or maybe better, what exactly will it do to "open the truck up" as i've seen it referred to?

 

Its definitley worth it. Just the removal of torque management is worth it. If you can afford 93 octane and use the 93 tune then you willl really notice something lol. It will basically remove torque management so your tranny isn't always hunting for gears, extends the rev limiter to 5200, firms up the shifts, and gives you some more pep.

 

The SCT removes the torque management program that was put on these trucks in either 2000 or 2001 as an attempt to manage the ping caused by the blown plenum problem. It also does some very interesting things with air fuel ratio that gives more power. I'm working towards getting one myself!

 

interesting. are these for all year trucks (99 mainly since thats what i got). and are there are prerequisite mods that have to have been made in order to benefit from it?

and as far as gas, will the benefits still be there running 87?
