Default Tire Pressure

Hey y'all,

This week I got a set of Hankook Dynapro All Terrains on my truck. The sidewall says to run them at 80 psi, but i have never had tires that have required that much air. Right now I've got them at around 45-50 psi. Should I bump them up some, or all the way to 80 psi? Anyone with these tires or similar, can you chime in? Thanks in advance.

Never heard of anything above 65. What load class (weight rating) are they?

Hold up...

That number is not necessarily would you should run at, it may just be the maximum rated PSI. My tires say maximum rated PSI of 44 or something similar. If I ran them at that, they'd wear very strangely. I run them at 38.

Your max rated PSI is not the recommended PSI level.

if you inflate to 80 these things are gonna feel like your rolling on rocks 40-45 will be fine. when you're towing is when you wanna bump em up more. if you roll around at 80psi and no load the center of your tire will wear prematurely.

No do not inflate to 80psi for everyday driving, your ride will be complete sh^t and the tires will wear out the center quicker than you will notice, if your towing then bumping the psi up to that will be ok. The number on the side of the tire is max psi not what psi to run

Anywhere from 40-55 usually gives the best wear and ride, keep an eye on tread wear to make sure they wear straight

Id leave them there

50 is still probably too high. Keep an eye on the wear and increase pressure if the outsides are wearing faster but decrease pressure if the middle is wearing faster (which I suspect it will). The wider the tire the lower the psi you will be able to run without wear problems.
