Default Safe to jack by axle?

My truck is stock height and stock tires but a floor jack isn't tall enough to raise a tire off of the ground. What I need to know is can I use the jack in the axle near the wheel to jack it up or will that damage the axle housing?

Won't hurt it. That is actually one of the easiest ways to jack it up. I also set jackstands under the axle as well. The axle supports the weight of the truck in any event.... so, you could actually jack the truck up by the axle, to the point of flipping the truck. Still wouldn't hurt it.

Ok I just didn't know if the housing would get damaged or crushed because of the weight of this best. My car is much lighter lol

Does anyone know of a store that sells this type of jack? This would be great to leave in the truck.
