Default Sound in Overdrive

I have a 1997 dodge 1500, when I am in overdrive and on the gas, I hear a clicking/light rattling sound. It doesn't sound like warn lifters. I don't know what it is, thought maybe some of you guys might have an idea?

Front axle or drive shaft ujoints? Is it a pinging noise? Does your cat rattle if you bang on it?

From the post it sounds like you think is is coming from the engine. If it is pinging under load, think marbles in a can, you may want to check this out,

Hmm. I'm haven't been pulling any loads lately, but I suppose I should check the plenum out. I'm not sure if the previous owner changed it or not. worth a look though.

I was thinking that it could have been coming from the trans. since the noise only occurs in overdrive, and not in any of the other gears.
