more power
Short of getting a diff truck I need some more power. Don't care about mpgs. I tow my camo trailer and atvs. It currently pulls, and the new tranny and shift kit help keep it in the rpm range it needs.
But, I hate going 40 up a super steep hill running 3500 rpms.
Got a 1999, 5.2, beefed tranny a bit, new plugs and wires. Runs great, just need more.
I'm thinking K&N drop in and cherry bomb glasspack. Any other ideas short of going crazy and spending more than the truck is worth?

Along with the better flowing air filter, consider headers, and aftermarket y pipe, and a freer flowing exhaust. Just doing the y pipe would more'n likely give you a noticeable gain.
Doing a tuner certainly wouldn't hurt either. Disposing of torque management (if that is even an is an issue on your year truck....) would help a lot.

Torque management was Dodges 'solution' to installing crappy transmissions. Its all software..... retards timing to keep max torque under 'control'.... so the whimpy trans doesn't puke its guts all over the road.
So is that where the tuner comes into play?

OK, nobody else wants to say it, LOL Read this https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html this issue needs to be addressed first and foremost. Especially when you talk about power. And the tuner comes into play after this common issue is fixed.
Ya, I'm aware of this plenum issue. I have absolutely no oil consumption, intake manifold looks good, no oil pooling. Still getting 17mpg freeway, 13city. Just looking for a little more, make it easier for engine to do its thing.
