Is there a fuel filter on a 2nd gen 5.2l truck?

Maybe there are outgoing filters on the tankers to reduce what goes into the stations holding tanks. Alot of bigger stations have filters in the actual pump area that they change every month, but not all stations do. And where I live, I seriously doubt they have filters...

Here's the fuel pump assy:
And here's the separate fuel pressure regulator:
When I rebuilt my engine I send the old pressure regulator to someone I knew who worked at the plant, in Iowa, that manufactured them. In return for my old regulator he sent me two right off the assy line. The technicians wanted to see what one "from the field" looked like after years and miles of service. I have a picture of it somewhere. The inside was dirty, as if someone had filled it with coffee grounds yet it was still within specs pressure-wise. That's good, right? Not really since three of the eight injectors were plugged on the inlet side and there was a lot of junk partially plugging the fuel injector rail.

Look at the base of the picture I posted. There's a screen (aka sock) at the bottom, which is the direction of the fuel flow. IIRC, there's another screen inside from there, and finally the pressure regulator. Last time I priced a pressure regulator, it was $15. It's a PITA to change with the tank in place, but it can be done.
