Default idle problem

i have a 96 Ram 1500 2 wd with a 5.9L V8. i have an idling problem where the truck will not idle on its own. if you give it gas it revs and runs good. running the truck for a while and letting it heat up does not seem to affect it at all. sometimes if you nurse the peddle you can get it to idle if you are real careful. most of the time as soon as you take your foot off the peddle it will go dead. i am looking to get the truck in good running condition this weekend to sell and would like a good list of things to check over the long holiday weekend. thanks in advance

Grab yourself a throttle body gasket, then, pull the TB, remove the IAC motor from the back of it, and clean everything out really well. (leave the battery disconnected while you are doing this.) Put it all back together, and see if that doesn't improve things at all.
