How heavy of a jack do i need to lift the ram
I am trying to replace the ball joints today on my ram and i put my craftsman jack under the truck its a 2 1/4 ton. I went to lift the truck and it bent the jack and kicked out obviously. So now I have a broken jack and I was wondering what do i need. A 3 ton? I thought I could lift the truck without a problem with the 2 1/4 ton. I know u have to pump it a hell of alot more but I've lifted many vehicles with this jack. Let me know

I think I figured it out. I realized the street was so hot the jack stands are sinking down into the street. I'm guessing the floor jack just sank on one side which made it off balance and bent it. It was all sorts of screwed when i pulled it out. then it had collapsed on top of a jack stand and the jack stand was a good 1.5 or so inches in the street and stuck under the axle. Just starting off bad!

still trying to figure out which side is which. it would make sense that the left is the drivers and rite is passanger. But if you remember me saying i had noise when turning right, the mechanic told me it was the brake hardware hitting. I could see it one day when parked. I have a specail clip that holds my pads instead of the caliper. The mechanic said it was that clip that was hitting the rim. Rite in the corner of the right or passanger side rim i can see cuts in it from the hardware hitting it. Not bad but messed it up a little. But on the inspection paper its printed LF brake hardware.
