Ok, so im back after a long work trip, and it's time to get some of the last bits of repair work done in my ol troublemaker, A new torque converter! ive heard the original sucks and is rather unreliable, courtesy of Chrysler no doubt , so id appreciate some suggestions on a good, reliable after market tc. and im looking for more towing power and such, she's a work horse after all, 5.9l engine, steel bumper, 12,000 pound winch, 4kc's, 3 inch bl, and set of BF Goodrich mud terrains definitely not drag strip material! this is the final thing on my list to fix aside from a few sensors, so far ive replaced the engine (because of bad rings), new computer(other one got deep fried somehow), Fuel pump !twice!, ball joints, busted radiator hose and a pulley. tranny's great!(i know the guy who put it in, respectable work). so with any luck im good for a while!

 

WHen the trans was rebuilt, did he put a new converter in??

 

These guys have been recommended here before. I believe a user by the name of 'J415' has one currently installed on his truck and he's pleased. I'd give them a call and see what they recommend.

Thats who I use for all of my rebuilds.

 

I ordered a stock one when I rebuilt my tranny on MonteC's recommendation and it's working great. I'd definitely buy it again if I had to do it all over.

 

FYI for anyone interested, PNH makes hd versions as well. Which are very nice.
