Another Transmission Problem

Another Transmission Problem
Sorry to have to start another trans thread but I searched and didn't find another one that has the same problems I do, I have a 99 1500, regular cab short bed, 5.2 2wd, 69000 miles, I never had a problem until now, I was driving when I noticed that the TC was not locking up, it will not lock up at any speed, and it is real quick to downshift now, barely touch the gas and it downshifts and holds that gear until I slow down to about 55 mph then it upshifts, when I stop for any reason, it will not downshift back through the gears, when I start from a stop it still be in high gear and I will have to drop it down into 1st gear manually and upshift manually, I checked the fluid level and it seems to be too high although I have never added any fluid to it, I have had this truck for 2 problem free years and I hope it's something that I can fix, also no check engine light, any suggestions where to start looking would be greatly appreciated.

Start with the least expensive route . First, try adjusting the TV cable and make sure the spring is there at the end of the cable down on the side of the tranny. Second, I'd replace the TPS, but if money is an issue, a Haynes manual has the test procedure for it. Here is the Factory TV cable adjustment.... It's in this thread. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-in-trans.html

Thanks zman, checked the cable and the spring, everything looks to be all right, after it sat for a couple of hours went out and took it for a ride, it is driving and shifting fine now, fluid level is good, but now I have a check engine light, tried the key trick to get the code but I can't seem to get that to work, I guess I will take to Auto Zone and have them read it for me and take it from there.

Well, that seems to have done the trick, cleared the code and installed the sensor and it is driving good as new, no cel and shifting as it should, I am glad I searched 'p0720' on the forum, some other members have changed this sensor and had good advice on doing it, just make sure you have the new sensor in hand and ready to put in when you remove the old one because transmission fluid will pour out when you remove the old one, other than that it's a 10 minute job.
