Won't start/ P601 code
I've read a lot of the posts about the P601 . My Dodge is a 3500 Ram
2001 conversion van in storage since Feb. Went there yesterday, and it started right up. Went over to fire up the aux. power generator and it cranked for 30-40 seconds and it started. Went back and saw the
check engine lite on, engine not running. Tried to start it and it just
cranks away, P601 only code in PCM. It's an unheated storage bldg
and it gets damp in there. Will it help reseating all the plugs, con-
nectors, modules, etc or is it best to send my PCM for repair. I am a
senior citizen and used to repair all my stuff but that was long ago.
Any advice would be highly appreciated........5.9L engine

Clean/inspect/reseat every electrical connection you find under the hood, that has anything to do with the engine. Especially at the PCM. Leave the battery disconnected while you play... See if that doesn't improve its attitude.
OK, that would be my plan of attack. Just frustrating that this is a
diagnostic computer and the only error code is that I have a problem. Sort of figured that out when it wouldn't start, lol.
Thanks for the reply....

Pulled, checked and reseated all plugs going to PCM and various other plugs under hood. Getting no spark. Pulled and cleaned crank and cam shaft position sensors. Swapped ASD relays. Can clear P601 code and do not always get an error while cranking. If I crank it for 30 seconds or so then I will get a P601 followed by a P351. So, do I start throwing parts at it? Cam Pos. Sensor, Crank Pos. Sensor, Coil, PCM?? Don't think error codes are cause of problem.

Went thru codes list and there are at least 3 codes for bad crank sensor and the same for cam position sensor. PCM has no way to detect a bad ignition coil so that's where we started . Long story short, ohms reading was like 20 meg, should be around 15-20 k. A new $35 coil and she started right up. Hope this helps someone else. Thanks to you all for your input.
