Deal or No Deal?

Nostalgia doesn't mean much to me if my truck can't get me to work and school on a reliable, everyday basis. If it can't do that, then I'd look for another truck that can.
If you are really interested in a 2nd gen ram, be prepared to repair the thing. I knew this going into my truck at least and bought a 4yr/48k warranty. I've used it twice too.
I sure as hell wouldn't kick a nice F150 outta bed for eating crackers.....

Ford, Dodge, and Chevy they are all going to have problems when it comes to buying either new or used trucks. If one make was superior over the others, why wouldn't that one make dominate the truck market. It all comes down to what you can get a deal on and what you are most comfortable with.

here's my theory on buying a cheap used vehicle that needs some work. i simply don't want a car payment. i dropped roughly $3000 into the purchase and will put in roughly $1000 when all is said in done in parts and labor.
will beat the hell out of any $4000 truck you can find on CL thats for sure!
are there better trucks out there for $6-8000? sure. but i don't have the extra $5000 to drop down for it
and check this out at our local nissan dealership. redickerous if ya ask me!

Here's a suggestion. Forget the 5.2L & 5.9L V8 Dodges. Motors are reliable, have decent power, but cant compete, at least in stock form, to a Cummins.
If your in the market start searching for an old 3/4 ton diesel 4x4. Cost may be higher but it will be well worth it. Gas mileage is nearly double what you will be getting out a gas motor, you'll be able to run on veggie oil with little modification if you wanted which by the way, you can get for free from the right places. Who knows, maybe if you look long enough you can find one that needs some work at a nice low price. Take your time with these used car buying things. Compared to the Ford and Chevy Diesels out there, Dodge will always take the win with the Cummins.
