Default thicker oil?

What's a thicker better oil that won't hurt my motor . Trying to quite down the lifter that is collapsed ? Also how much do you guys think it will be to replace lifters and what would be wise to do while getting them replaced ? I was thinking springs and pushrods ?

I,d pull the intake and replace the offending lifter. Also check rocker and pushrod, spring and retainer. I wouldnt replace anything else unless rebuilding the heads. Cost of gasket set and oil and antifreeze plus a lifter and pushrod and youre mobile again. Hundred dollar bill.

Have you tried replacing a quart of motor oil with a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil?

How much you wanna spend? Look for the MP lifters at Richard's site. You could also run the MP 6062 springs, but you must get the new retainers for them.
With just 1.7rr, hardened pushrods aren't that important IMO, as the engine will top out at around 5500rpms, so pushing it beyond that is pointless. Hughes sells chromemoly pushrods if you want them.

I've heard that 15W40 works for older engines that have low oil pressure due to bearing slop, not sure if you should use it if the bearings aren't that sloppy as they won't pass the oil as quickly and you could dry out the sump if you rev it high for extended time.

so you saying if i get these sprng and what not with my 1.7 it would help not to bust another lifter ?? how many labor hours do you think it would take a shop to fix this problem ?

i was thinking thinking about getting new heads to mix with the airgap ,but i have 1.7 HS and i dont want to cause anymore problems because i dont work on motors and do want to cause myself a bigger bill to get er fixed agian. was thinking 2.02 heads or the step down since the bottom end is still stock

just out of curiosity could a bad cap and rotor or plugs cause a clicking noise ? it sounds like it from the back of the motor not the front ? its been about 20k since i did a whole tune up about 5k with autolight 3923. thinking about going back to stock champs
