Default trans from a 94 into a 96?

this is kinda a stupid question probabbly but is there any chance that a 94 5.9L tranny will fit and work on a 96 5.2L?

if it does is 300$ worth for a rebuilt trans?

I don't think so. 94 had an RH tranny and the 96 had an RE. One is hydraulically controlled and the other is electronically controlled.

No, not a straight swap.

Yup, others are correct.

Among other things... 1994-1995 used the hydraulically controlled unit, the 1996+ used the electronically controlled unit, as J415 states. Not to mention wiring differences and the like, definitely not a straight swap. You would need one from the exact same model year to be completely safe, maybe a 1997 would work, maybe.

96-97, maybe 98-99. Not sure when they got rid of the cable speedo. Just have to make sure its an RE unit (black 8 pin connector) and that it has a speedo housing in the tailshaft.

When did they get rid of the cable speedo? This is going to drive me crazy all day.
