Default Looking to Buy 2000 Dodge Ram 1500

I currently have a 2002 Nissan Xterra with 254000 Miles. Still runs great but I want a truck with fewer miles. I found a 2000 Dodge ram with 114000 miles not to far from where I live at a used car dealer. They are asking for 4950. I got an offer on my current car for 4000.<-(I bought the car and fixed it for less than 1800$ total. The car still has a clean title) Would it be wise to sell my current car and pay the extra 900 to get this ram. Interior looks clean as well as the exterior. I have yet to see how it runs. Only real issue I seem to see in these trucks is the trannys. But I guess I wouldnt mind dropping some money to get a new one and have the truck last for some time.

Personally I'd go with a private seller if you found one you liked. I paid $2,500 for my 2001 Ram from a private seller. It was in great condition with I purchased it, it needs a few things like a Plenum fix (soon to be had) but it's an '01 so work is to be expected.

I found a private seller who was asking 6500 for his 2001 with 65000 miles. Ive been told to just go with the cheaper one with 114,000. Not to sure what I want atm

Well the black Ram is quite nice. $6,500 for a 01 with 65,000 miles isn't bad. Big question is has the transmission been fixed yet? My truck had already had the transmission serviced, over 4k miles since then (I even got all the paperwork in the deal) and it's still going strong.

Upon closer inspection of the black Ram if the transmission has either been fixed or is known to be in good shape that's probably a pretty decent deal. Looks like the dash board is still intact. Hard to find those on the 01's.

How many more miles do you think this truck has. I know you cant really tell just from a picture but based on average performance of these trucks. Seems like everyone has different stories. Judging by the overall apearance of the truck it looks like its been well maintained. I plan on making long hauls towing in this truck and I dont want it to fail on me thousands of miles away from home.

The info in the ad says 114034. I have more on my 01, don't tow a lot but it's got plenty of power when I do.

Probably the biggest concern besides the Plenum (Hughes Replacement Kits are like $120) is the transmission.

So I'm still on the hunt.

Found this one about 15 minutes from my house.

Has more miles than my previous listing. But he is only asking for 4000 which is what Im getting for my car Im selling. It would work out almost perfect. He seems to ahve taken great care of it and the care is kept clean. oh so many decisions
