Default trailer harness

hey guys,

i have been looking high and low on here for some info on the fatory trailer harness. i have found some stuff but they were years other then 94-01. i was hoping someone could enlighten me a little and let me know if my truck is prewired.

it is a 99 Ram 1500 sport.
i was looking it over tonight and there is a wire and plug behind my rear roll pan. i am actually not so sure it is a sport model or had a factory roll pan at this point because every where i looked says something like the sport model with a roll pan doesnt have a prewire. so i checked my under hood fuse panel and there is a fuse and relay under there listed for the trailer. both the fuse and relay are in the correct place. as i said before there is a harness with connector at the back as well. i was not expecting to see this. i did check under the dash for the blue connector so i can hook up a brake controller as well. it is there. i hope this helps you guys to help me.

also i did contact chrysler about a build sheet. i am currently awaiting their responce.

thanks in advance
Jim

sorry just thought that was kinda "dumb funny."

If your truck came with the factory tow package, the harness is factory. Since you have the connector for the brake controller, I am going to hazard a wild guess, and say, yeah, you probably do have it.

i kinda figured i did but i wanted to just be sure. i am trying to find a rear bumper for it to get rid of the roll pan and put a receiver on it. thanks for the info.

i just replaced the plenum gasket and i can feel its got a ton more power. i also just replaced the transfer case as well because it cracked and i didnt know it. so i ran all the fluid out and ran it dry, destroying the internals. i then found out that the rear U-joint was toast as well so i replaced that as well.. now i gotta pull the trans pan and try the OD sensor cleaning to fix the 2nd-3rd shifting problem.

Good luck finding a rear bumper.... (at least, in the used market....) seems they really liked to rust out, and fall off on the 2nd gens. Mine is more a collection of brackets than anything resembling a bumper......

lmao, yeah everything i have seen or found used anyway have all rotted out like the old toyota pickup frames and beds from the 80's. i did however find an aftermarket one from autozone for around $150.
