Well if the AC is changing vents, you have a vacuum leak.

Default it not the a/c changing the vents

It when going up hill at high speeds it looses all power the a/c vents close I am not ruling out a vacuum problem I just wondering anything that could cause it to loose power like that and causes the power loss to start

Previous owner already replace cat before I got my truck. Since it appears that all of these have or will have the plenum gasket blow, I decided to do the kegger mod before I have problems. Engine ran fine before (other than inability to shift into 3rd). Since cat was clogged, I am sure the plenum is blown.
