Well besides a body lift the only thing you can use is spacers up front and AAL's or blocks in the rear.

Because after 2" or so you need upper control arms to fix alignment problems. Kits with control arms cost much more.

I posted on another thread for you, but doetsch tech and ebay(canuck motorsports) both have 2wd lift kits

3" springs need upper control arms, what size tire do you plan on running

I had a 97' 1500 2wd before i bought my 01's sport. I ran the Fabtech lift kit on the 2wd and it rode and handled great. The kit i used was new front knuckles/spidles and rear blocks with a new set of shocks. Definitely a nice kit. I also did not need upper control arms, alignment was easy and no problems. Fabtech told me that for the std cab/ sb if you run the springs you will have a rough ride. So i stayed away from them up front.

You say you want to spend less then $500 for a 3 inch kit? Really? Really? You can barely find a lift for a CJ5 for that little, and those are like 4 pieces.

IF you can find a decent kit for less than a grand then you are doing pretty good, the kits that are cheap don't include all the parts you will need and by the time you buy those you are at or more than the price of the one I listed, in the end yous pent a grand on an inferior kit, then you trust your life and those around you to a crappy kit.
