I have a 2002 ram with the 5.9, so I thought this question best be posted here. I bought this truck to pull a travel trailer. I have noticed that when I am pulled the trailer after about an hour or so there is a clicking sound coming from the Tranny. At least I believe it is because if I shift from drive to rev or nue the sound stops. Some times in Drive with foot on brake the noise is there, but when I give gas it goes away. If I turn the truck off and let everything cool down then the sound goes way and returns later. When I drive the truck without the trailer the sound never shows up. Any ideas?

 

Put the truck on four jack stands, have a friend hold the brake or climb under the truck and pinpoint the noise.
