Default '01 5.2l whining noise problem

I have a 01 1500 5.2l. When the engine warms up, there is a whining noise that sounds like it is coming from the front on the engine. I was told it was the pcv valve. I pulled the valve out and the noise quit so I went and bought another valve. Installed new one, same problem. When you kill the engine, it sounds like it is letting pressure off somewhere behind the intake manifold. Looked at the plenum sticky, sounds like that is a problem i have to and wonder if that could be causing the whining sound. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.

Whine, or whistle? Are you hearing the noise from the front of the motor? Or from inside the manifold??

I used to have a whine sound like that on my 01..(If its the same sound as your hearing) and it turned out to be the idler pulley. But since you took the belt off, that shouldn't be it. I also have a low whining noise in reverse coming from upfront somewhere. Its always done that. Even after trans rebuild. Its hard to tell without seeing or hearing it. Video?

As for the pressure let off sound, my truck and my uncles truck both make that sound right when you turn the engine off. Sounds like a air compressor. We thought it was the air intake.

Yeah. Thought it was a pulley or something up front until i pulled the belt off. If it is cold out, i can drive it for awhile with out it doing it. Once it warms up good, it will start back up.

Plenum is next on my list this weekend. I figure if it is bad along with intake gasket leaking that might fix the problem. I've had my '01 since dec. of 2000, so going on 11 years and this is the first time i've been stumped about a problem. Thanks for your help.
