Default 1999 transmission issues

ok a buddy of mine has a 1999 dodge durango with a 318 auto 4x4. im pretty sure they use the same trannys as the rams, correct? so assuming they do i thought id ask you guys here because i seem to get the most help and/or ideas here on the 2nd gen forums.

but anyways his tranny has been slipping for a while. (a tranny line to the radiator blew off and he didnt know and he HAD to get it out of the middle of the road by himself.) but its been slipping when he takes off and sometimes grinds into 2nd he says. but other than that everything has been fine. now today he called me and says he just lost reverse. he drove about 60 miles north to his moms house and went to leave and it wouldnt back up but instead when in reverse it drives forward and almost hits the house. he also said when its in neutral it wants to again go forward. now when in park he told me when he revs it up a little it sounds like there is a heavy load on the motor. what the hell is going on?????????????? is it time for a new trans or could something just need fixed or adjusted???? idk anything about autos soooo.....

thx in advance matt
