Ha! Any more beer breaks and I'll have to call it quits for the day! Nope, no other coils, and no stores or wreckers around here open today. I actually did get the odd spark off an old plug wire that looked ok, but only one or two sparks in 10 secs of cranking, and usually right off the start, then nothing els.

Ok, a new developement, its showing code 42, which it didn't before. Thats the ASD correct? I swapped the relays, but it still did nothing. Theres 12v at the horizontal blade (#30) and ground at the other four blades. It seems to check out with the ohm reader and I tried the relay in my neon (horn) and it works fine. What els could make it throw that code?

When we were testing the TPS it had 5volts afer 3 seconds and its on the same curciut as the cam sensor, Map sensor, crank sensor and should stay on after 3 seconds. For the othe guy check you TPS on the throttle body for 5volts with key on.

Ok, seems to be a bit different on the 97 than I had thought. This is from the 96 service manual:
When the PCM grounds the ASD relay, the relay
contacts close and connect circuit A16 from fuse 4 in
the PDC to circuit A142. Circuit A142 splices to supply
voltage to the fuel injectors, ignition coil, and
heated oxygen sensors. Circuit A142 also connects to
cavity C12 of the PCM.
