Ive only had my truck a bit over a month and the fuel pump went out. The part store sell 2 different pumps depending on the size of the tank. Ive not filled it up from completely empty so I am unsure what size it is. I think it is either 26gal 34gal or 35gal. Is there a way I can tell by looking at it?

 

Either 24 or 26. AFAIK you need a diesel for anything bigger.

you could probably call up a dealer and give them your vin number and they can tell you what your build sheet says you have in your truck as far as gas tank size.

 

If its a short bed, you have the 26 gallon tank, if it's a long bed, you need to talk to the dealer to find out for sure.

 

The way it usually rolls is...

1500 short bed: 26 gallon
1500 long bed: 35 gallon
2500 short bed: 26 gallon with option of 34 gallon
2500 long bed: 35 gallon
