either one, but don't mix them.

our trucks originally came with regular power steering fluid. somewhere along the way, there was a TSB that approved/recommended replacing it with atf+4, but it said not to mix them.

Aww, gee, thanks.

I bought Mopar PS fluid a couple months ago and topped mine off.
Glad I only put in a couple ounces.

I'm surprised ATF 4+ has been recommended or OK'd for the power steering system. The stuff I've been using is more of a thick, glycerin type solution that works well and is far less expensive than ATF 4+.

with a lot of confusing double talk, the TSB says 94-01 came with regular ps fluid (MS5931) and should not be topped off with atf+4 (MS9602).

it also says that if "older models" are drained and flushed for service, then it "should" be refilled with atf+4 (MS9602) (probably because its more expensive LOL).

i interpret this as either is ok, just don't mix them.

also the jeep WJ/WG and ZH vehicles use unique power steering fluids due to the hydraulic fan thing-a-majig and cannot use any of the normal fluids. those who try it have to buy a lot of very expensive replacement parts.
