Default Battery Cut off switch

So I was replacing a my signal lens the other night and for some reason I pulled my battery tray because my dumb *** figgered it would be easier if it was removed, it wasn't.

In the process I noticed a pressure switch, or what looked like one, on the battery tray. I was just wondering what this does.

That is what makes your battery light come on, unplug and see lol.
Took me forever to figure out why my battery light came on then I remembered unplugging that.

lol ya the only reason I could think they did that was for maybe if the battery wasn't secured down and it bounced the light would come on maybe?? But I have no idea lol.
