Default turbocharge 5.2 ram

ok so ive got my 99 ram 5.2 im wanting to slap a small turbo on it that i picked off of a older turbo benz. i know the turbo wont be putting out much boost but my question i have is. will i be wasting my time with this ? will it even work ? will i need to get a prograhmer for it ? or should i just save up some cash and go buy a whole kit thats made for the truck ? im not starting this right now but its a thought i had to make some extra power. any ideas anyone ? thanks

You would need to research the turbo you have and it's output.

It's possible to boost a truck with a turbo, but yes, you definitely will need to have a tune written for it, or you can severely limit the longevity of the engine.

If you have to ask...

That turbo will be way too small. Research for about a year before even attempting such a thing.

i started digging around and found that its better to just save some cash and go with one thats made for the truck. and for around 1,000 i can get a sts turbo system. and i wont need to mod the engine. yes i could get a new cam for it if i really wana go all out but its not required for this app. ill be tossing that older turbo out. unless i feel like adding boost to a riding mower. lol

the turbo needs to match the liter of engine its going on. for example.. if you had the 5.9l magnum, you could just round it up to a 6.0l. so for turbos you would want a single large turbo, like a garret gt37-gt60. or if you can find them two smaller turbos that are for a 3.0l like a garret gt25 or gt35. you would need supporting mods like a intercooler and a decent BOV. making the piping isnt that hard just takes some time mapping it out. hardes thing is usually finding a oil feed and return for the turbo(s). As for the tunning, you could always get a megasquirts and have a local shop do the tunning, round here its bout $100 /hr.
