Default engine being wierd

ok guys, got to ask this one to you guys..

got my truck stuck a while back. pretty bad, water to about the door handles.. got everything fixed. except the motor is not running right.

it runs very rich, if i drive easy, it runs fine, sacs of power like it should..

i drive it hard, and it doesnt run right, almost seems like a misfire, back fire.. will do it over and over till i drive easy for a while in which it still does it for a good bit till it goes smooth again. ive been told, check spark plugs (champion baby) and then a guy told me to check the electronic advance.

First of all , there is no "electronic advance". And second, if you had water up to the door handles, I for one won't even bother to attempt an online diagnostic of your problem, other than maybe unplugging and drying out every single electrical connector on the truck.

Front O2 sensor,
You might have gotten it wet while it was powered and destroyed it.

did your ignition coil get wet? ive heard horror stories of 2nd gen rams getting water splashed on their coil and the whole truck going into limp mode, if it will start at all.

i would start with the ignition. (cap and rotor, plugs and coil) and see if anything changes.

after that i would start checking the fuel injectors, one might be gunked up.

maybe a clogged cat? mine ran like dog s#$% till i bought a off-road y-pipe. (almost felt like it had a cylinder miss)

ok.. zman, this happen almost 2 months ago, so everything is dry with our 105* heat everyday..

how is there no electronic advance, there is a ring that goes under the cap and rotor, feed by one wire. in which i was told, could be wrong, but thats why i ask. but its an electronic advance, cause its got to be a advance system, there is no vacuum to advance it.. sooo...

the cat is gutted, so its not a clogged cat.

front o2 sensor seems like it may be. im going to look into it because i have my rear taken out right now and front i believe may be unhooked from when i did the trans swap.. but ill look into it.

injectors may be also, but im going to try the o2s and the spark plugs first. clean the contacts and stuff on the cap and rotor. see if that helps.

thats the cam position sensor. all it does is tell the computer where the camshaft is and also tells it when to put fire in the cylinder at the correct time.
