Default 2000 1500 acceleration problem.

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 sport 4x4 318 5 speed. I love the truck but it's recently been giving me some problems. When I first start driving it before the engine warms up it's almost impossible to go anywhere. It will start out fine in first if you give it a little extra clutch but as soon as you shift to second it looses all power and gets stuck at an idle. It just pops and almost sounds like it's missing. The only way to get it to move is high revs and slowly letting out the clutch. But as soon as it warms up it's fine. No problems at all once it's warmed. Any ideas?

I'd replace the pre cat o2 sensor. And when was the last time you did a tune up?

This past month. I also replace the pcv, iac, thermostat, and the down stream o2 sensor because it ran a code for that. I'm thinkin maby the sart to a clogged cat since it only does it when the engines cold?

Entirely possible. Also, check fuel pressure.

If it runs okay for the first minute or two then starts acting up, replace the upstream oxygen sensor with either a dealer part or NTK brand.

Sounds like an ignition problem...performance at high rpm no power after a shift popping missing... all ignition issues

Agree 100% with this solution. Mine was doing the same thing, replaced upstream o2 sensor now all is well.

Bad plenum can lead to bad cat and oxygen sensors
