OK thank you for answering my Q's There are some advantages to having the Dana 60 rear for towing, bigger brakes and its a F/F diff, But as for upgrading the front to 8 bolt stuff is in no way going to help you unless you change everything over to 2500 parts. Even then you should never exceed the 1500 tow capp. Have you thought about air bags for the back, I use them and have great success with them.

well thats what i was saying the only real reason ive been trying to change it out is because i will be buying tires, wheels, and doing the axle replacement all at the same time (this month) and i just would really like for my front wheels to be 8 lug like my back ones are going to be. ive looked at the bags before, but if i do that i would like to have the in cab feature which runs them up pretty pricey. never know that might come in the future but right now i really would like to get this D60 thrown under there. also if i do the rear axle swap i can possible get disc brake upgrade and higher gear ratio all in one! im beginning to think with my head, and my pocketbook thanks me

How much is a Dana 60 going to cost you? A used one with disc's from a wrecker is $800-$1500 up here plus your labor costs to install it, This will not be a bolt up situation at all e cables, spring purchases will all have to be dealt with, plus possible brake issues, proportioning valve, abs, master cyld. The list could be huge as far as parts needed go.Yes you should be able to find one with disc's and higher gear ratio. If I know I am going to tow all I do is put my air pig in the back of the truck for the air bags.

Correction; If I know I need to tow something I take my 89 454 dually, which I paid less for than the price of the parts you will spend doing this conversion. Look around for the same thing for a cheap work/ tow truck
