That pic is of the hose coming directly off the lower radiator correct?

Yep. So drilling it out seems to be the easiest solution.

Yep, that's what I did. I think I tried a small bit first and all it did was spin the ball. IIRC I went right to a 5/16's bit and the plastic ball and spring was gone. Just make sure you clean the hose out good, I used some carb cleaner , then blew it out right away with compressed air. Don't forget you'll need the tool to remove the line from the radiator.

Drilled the check valve out and used some electrical parts cleaner and then air. That was way easier and cleaner than doing it as in the sticky. Next to service the trans then on to the leaky rear pinion.

Yes free is nice and you dont have to worry about the line slipping off the hose clamp and losing the trans fluid all over.
