Where to buy a steering stabilizer bracket... or how to get the bolt out?
don't forget to post how little job that "Steering Stabilizer" did to actually stabilize your steering. But I can't talk, I have one too.
All they are meant to do is prevent extreme travel back and forth if you hit a bump that changes the angle of your wheels (Specifically when off roading). They do hardly anything when you are on the street.

I got mine out with a sledgehammer... full swings... nuts.
Anyway, got the new one in... WHEW world of difference!!! anyone who tells you these are useless (like i've read all over the forums) is nuts. My truck... lifted 3" on 35s now drives like a new truck. I can't believe how big of a difference it made even from the steering stabilizer BEFORE I bent it.
I always thoughti t was just because I had it lifted on big wheels that it rode a little rough, but as I said... new stabilizer and you'd think you were riding in a 2012 on street tires!
Side note from the other poster, my mounts look completely different from that. Both ends had brackets, the wheel side was welded on and the middle one had two u bolts. I had to pull the ubolts off and then use a sledge hammer on the bracket. Yours doesnt have the bracked. aftermarket? or did they change that sometime between 96 and 98?

Only hammer I had available lol! As for the impact it has on the steering, my stock RAM didn't have any problems but it felt loose, especially going over bumps or pot holes. After switching to the new heavier and bigger tires, it felt much better and smoother and while I was at it swapping out the stabilizer made the steering much more firm than before. Going over bumps or hitting pot holes do not cause my steering wheel to snap like it did before and probably due to the combination of new tires and stabilizer combined. Anyhow, at $50-80 it's relatively inexpensive and worth doing if for not nothing else other than peace of mind.
However to answer your question, it seems to me that my stabizer mounts are stock but the ones you described are aftermarket attachments to fit stabilizer designed for lifted trucks. I just found out from reading the Rough Country lift kit that I just ordered (
) that I have to also replace the sterrring stabilizer with their aftermarket unit....so I will be upgrading to the dual units....anyone need a slightly used one?
