Default Fuel Guage And MPG's Issues

On my last tank of gas, I only got 150 miles on my trip odometer before my fuel light came on. When I saw this I was shocked but maybe thought my fuel guage or sending unit was acting up. I filled it up and it took 14.5 gallons. I only got 10.3 mpg on that tank when I usually average around 14 mpg. And my gas guage doesn't register a full tank, it just sits at a 3/4. I have not put enough miles on it for the guage to start going down yet. I have no idea where to start troubleshooting. Anybody have any ideas? I haven't noticed a loss of power either. I am really confused on this one.

I know when I had my 95 ram it did that before the fuel pump went and my 96 does it time to time for a rule of thumb I never run past 250 miles without going to the pump if someone else knows what it could be I would like to know as well

I usually go about the same as far as miles go. But I am worried why my gas mileage went down so abruptly. I determine my mileage by keeping track of my miles and the amount of gas it takes to fill back up. Mopar, what was the price on that fuel pump? I wouldn't actually worry about my guage crapping out, but the fuel pump is a different story. It looks like I might be going to pick a boat up in about two weeks and I don't need it dieing on me then. My truck only has 54,000 miles on it. I will probably do a tune up this weekend and might drop the tank and test the sending unit and clean the filter.
