Default school me please

ok so i have a 97 2500 and the motor is tired but still works and gets me around but iv been wanting to replace the motor in the future.

now the other day i started wondering if i could do a turbo diesel 6speed swap instead of my gasser? is it possible and how hard would it be? i am very capable mechanic and figure i could do it myself if its not to big of a job what do you think? friends of mine say just buy another truck and just swap the bodys that it would be easier but i think its possible.

Anything is possible..... just depends on how much work ya wanna do. There are a selection of folks that have dropped a 4bt into their former gassers.... (same engine as the 5.9 diesel, just short two cylinders. bit less displacement)

It's a fair bit of work, but, it HAS been done..... you could prolly find a couple threads on it on various forums if ya searched hard enough. Having the entire donor truck to do the swap would be best.......
