Brake lines ( RUST )
I was on the way home Friday after work and I lost my brakes. I did make it home. After I was home looked under the truck and the line going to the back brakes has rusted out.
The question is : Can I put a plug in the line going to the back brakes until I can get the parts off line? I have a 6 inch lift on the truck so the lines need to be replaced with longer ones any way from the fram down to the axle. I just need to do this for a few day until the parts get here. Also do you think this would be safe. I have to drive about 7 miles to work.
Also where would be the best place to get the parts? I need to order them today. The truck is a 1999 with a 6 inch lift and 35's. Also has a 360

Definitely not safe to drive it without rear brakes.... if something happened, could be a BIG lawsuit on your hands, even if it wasn't your fault.
Don't go cheap fixing brakes. Do it right, replace the entire line from front to back.

As we all know it would have to be right behind the gas tank so it will have to come down to repaired right. Still haven't ordered the parts as of tonight, but will have to in the morning.
What really sucks is I started a new job 2 weeks ago and don't have a truck to get there now. Will have to work something out with one of the guys at work. My older son will take me there in the morning, but from there I'm on my own.
I still have to find the best price on the parts. I can get the foul line here, but the lines I need to get online

Order parts??? Erm, what parts?
Just go to the parts store, get a couple lengths of line the right size, a coupler, and a flaring tool. Cut the end forward of the gas tank, where you have good line again, disconnect it from where it hits the rubber line going down to the rear diff, pull out what you can, and run the new line. Don't even need to drop the tank. You can hand bend the line pretty easy.
Lot cheaper/faster than ordering up pre-bent lines.
