Zman only on the 2500's you got that access on the 1500 you got the stupid floppy ear little 90 degree 1/2 inch tubing bend with plastic ring you can tighten around it. I broke my door clips 100 times taking door on and off tightening untill i got fed up and drilled and tapped them in place.

Heres the link for cal vu

Remove the door panel as HeyYou said in order to take off the mirrors. There are 2 bolts that are suppose to hold it in place when you go fast. Tighten those up. Retap and blue loc tite those if need be. I tighten mine up 4 years ago and they've worked great since then.

He says he has plastic mirrors. They didn't have plastic mirrors in 96. I think we need a pic. And here is a pic of the stock mirrors from my 98 1500.

I took mine off and put a piece of hose around the tubular support for the mirror. Then tightened it back down using the same OEM screws. No more flopping mirrors! I've gotten up to 95MPH and they haven't moved a bit.

my truck must be a different model then yours is, because my mirrors dont look like that. it has a curved "L" shaped bracket that connects the mirror to the door.

Then they are NOT plastic. They are metal( like I thought, unless they were replaced by someone). So my input to this thread is useless. Do what others said to tighten the metal ones.

Sorry for getting aggravated. Post a pic of them before you tear things apart. Just curious at this point. Dude,

There were two different varieties.
The SLT's got the nice chrome ones, ST got the black ones.
