Default Magnaflow VS Flowmaster

Thinking about a cat back system. Any input would be helpful. Which brand sounds good without being too loud ???

I like the FM with a 50 series muffler and a Magnaflow cat. The 40 series muffler was too loud for me.

I have the Flowmaster Super 44 (supposedly better flowing, newer design than the 40) and the high-flow Magnaflow cat. Can't beat the Magnaflows for their high flow converters.

The muffler is your personal choice. Best thing to do is do a Youtube search of both, pick your favorite sounding one, and go for it. There are going to be a bunch of guys on here that will say "Magnaflow flows better" or "Flowmaster sounds better" or "Flowmaster sounds like crap" or give you other brands they prefer. Sort of like tires... theres a lot of opinions on mufflers. Its 90%-95% personal preference.

I'm of the Magnaflow flows better and Flowmaster sounds better crowd, but that's not opinion, that's proven fact. The chambered design of the Flowmasters are VERY restrictive, yielding CFM rates in many cases worse than stock, while Maggies are among the better flowing mufflers out there + they are stainless.

If you want LOUD, there are other choices that sound as good or better than a Flowmaster that give MUCH better flow rates. If you don't want loud and want performance, then it's pretty hard to beat a Magnaflow...

I just ordered a Flowmaster 44 and K&N drop in filter. Right now without the muffler it sounds DIRTY so hopefully the 44 and K&N will sound even better. Hopefully ill gain power or mpg but I doubt it LOL

I have the Flowmasters 40 series and it sounds great, to me at least. It does drone a good bit, which I like but I know a lot of people don't. I still have the crappy stock CAT and y-pipe though.

If you gut or replace the cat with a Magna flow, it will be considerably louder with the 40 or 44 series. Which like I said was too loud for me. And my neighbors.

I personally like magnaflow better than flowmaster, the flowmaster do not flow good at all like hammer stated, and I personally hate the drone you get from them.

I'm running a magnaflow muffler with no cat and Im happy with the sound and performance of it

I was thinking of getting a different muffler for the Ram, because the Flowmaster sound is a little to much for me and I'm sure the neighbors at 6:00 in the morning.... Magnflow sounds like the best choice... How does it sound at start up? That is usually the loudest.... Are their MF series that are better then others or all MF's built the same.

You guys might want to check out the Spin Tech turbo muffler.

I replaced the stock muffler on my Ram with one and does not drone at certain RPM's as some of the others.

You can stomp on it and does not get loud but get a throaty sound and get good flow rate.
