Default Need help with transmission problem

2000 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.9 v8 and auto tranny 4x4. The problem I have is that the torque converter would shutter in overdrive, I changed the fluid which was very dirty and filter and also adjusted the clutch bands. The converter now will only shutter while the engine temp is cold and will go away after the truck warms up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I read through that and it does not sound like I have a bad intake plenum, the truck has plenty of power but the converter seems to shutter until the truck gets a little heat in it and then it goes away. The fluid change helped it go from all the time to just when it is cold.

Ok then. Sorry I can't help with your tranny problem. I'm sure someone else here can. I guess you should replace the TC. Sounds like you already know that's what is causing the shuddering.

If your fluid was that bad, give it a week or two, and change it again. You only get about a third (if that) of the fluid when you do the filter change. Clean fluid isn't going to hurt you.

Could be the TC dropping in and out of lockup. If so, the Throttle positioning sensor could be at fault. Its on the right side of the throttle body (looking at the front of the engine).

Had a similar issue and a $30 TPS fixed it for good.

Could be a bad T/C.

Might try some of this.

Sorry Zman17, I must have said something that made you mad. I got on here find help on figuring out what is wrong with a transmission not someone to fight with. I read through the link you sent me and did not understand how that would cause the problem I have, I am not saying that I know that is not the problem. I need some help understanding how that would cause the problem I am explaining. Someone else suggested the tps, to that person I would like to ask if there was any other symptoms of a bad tps or just the tc problem.

Hey, no big deal. The plenum causes a loss of power, ruins cat's , o2 sensor's , spark plugs, carbon's up valve's etc.... The loss of power part can do strange things, that can be misconstrued as a problem with something else.

I just hooked a scanner up to the truck and it had a stored code of P0138 (o2 sensor circuit high voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2). I also checked what the tps was reading with the truck shut off and it was 12.9% closed throttle and 73.7% wide open throttle. I am not sure what it should read on the scanner but that doesn't seem right.
