thumping in steering wheel

It might get rid of the thump(like your thread title states), but nobody said it's going to help with the wander. That's another problem. And a common one at that.

JMHAI....you said its a piece of cake? Any tips?

Dremel tool w/abrasive cutting wheel to cut the retaining ring..(small, light and easy to control in a tight spot).

Cut a couple spring rings before cutting retaining ring..

used a small hammer on the bearing but after seeing how easy it moved just used my hand and twisted and wiggled it off..

After I installed the steering fix kit, I noticed a thumping sound on the steering wheel and now I can grab the wheel and pull it towards me about 1/4"

Sounds like the bushing is not on all the way.
