If you are willing to do a cam swap go for it, not to hard to do, there is a chance of some dealer shop time if you have to reset your fuel sync. Your after torque look for a RV cam I saw one on comp cams site the other day.

I am getting ready to do some motor work this weekend and I pulled off my 1.7 R/R yesterday, put the old rockers back on and the only diff I can tell is that it does not have the quick throttle response that it did with the R/R and thats it. I could find better ways to spend $300.

Assuming you removed the negative bat cable when you swapped back to oem rockers, you might notice more of a difference eventually. I for one noticed more gains than just throttle response on both my 98 5.2 and the 2000 5.9 . However, they(1.7's)sure do not help with gas mileage.

I am not going to get a chance to find out; the heads are coming off today and depending on what I find a possible head swap, and the 1.7 will go back on.

I just think it saving money in a 2 year thing and do it right then shorting yourself . you always gain power off other mods right ? Why not do it once and be done. But for me its hard to save money so it make take me 5 year to save for that motor . I just gotta quit buying the little stuff for the truck lol

No worries, I must add that I never tried the R/R on a stock motor.

My motor is NOT stock, I have a Spectre intake and deleted the muffler! LOL Actually, what I did was take the muffler off(40 series FM) and used it for the intake.
