How's that? They may not help but decreased valvetrain friction along with more valve lift, decreasing pumping losses, sure won't hurt.

Umm, I didn't say they hurt anything. I said they didn't "help" the gas mileage. Just like what you just stated.

i think ill just go with the HS RR's untill i can afford to turn my 360 into a 408 stroker

If you are going to do that eventually, then save the money to put towards it. Of course a gear change with them 35's will do a lot more for you in the long run.

FWIW I did see a small gain, YMMV, litteraly.

Only thing that helped mine(mpg) was fixing the plenum and the tuner to get rid of the death flash.
