2000 5.9L Gas wont start after running out of gas
Hello,
I just recently bought this truck and I was testing my limits on the gas tank.
When it ran out of gas I put my jerry can in...
truck wont start now. Feel like a jackass having to get a tow, but I have done this with all my vehicles. I thought I may have flooded it, so I left it overnight but it wont start just turns over. Checked all fuses and relays.
Pretty confused on this one
Any help or suggestions appreciated greatly
Thanks

I wonder if these trucks has a feature that shuts the fuel pumps down when you run out of gas in order to keep from burning them up? Maybe if he could disconnect the battery cable in order to reset everything? I would check the fuses and relays and also listen when the key is turned to the on position and listen for the fuel pump to engage.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
This is what happened: Sucked all the bad deposits through the filter, pump and some even gunked up the lines. Blew the pump.
Flushed out the tank and system and replaced the pump and filter, hopefully the injectors were not damaged. I was very surprised at the amount of gunk, in this system.
Well I will not be running out of gas ever again in this truck.
