Default 2000 Dodge ram 4x4 2500 V-10 gas is backfiring through intake sometimes

I own a 2000 dodge ram 2500 ext cab 4x4 V10 gas . About a week or so ago i was cruising at 50 mph on this level road and all of a sudden the truck feels like it is running on 4 cylinders instead of 10 ....I tried giving it a little more gas pedal and it backfired through the intake ( I am guessing its backfiring through the intake because it sounds like its coming from the engine bay ) Now when I push the gas pedal all the way to the floor it feels strong again and feels like it is running on all 10 cylinders ....i let up on the gas pedal a little bit and goes feels like it goes back to 4 cylinders and backfiring about every 3-5 seconds and it may run like this for a mile or so and then it will start running fine again.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ...Thanks so much

Mine did that few times, turns out the coil packs were bad. Might be worth checking them out on yours if you got a multi-meter and 15 mins.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

I had just remembered another possibility ...my buddy had a 99 ram identical to mine ....he had a catatytic converter that got blocked up some how and his truck would only go about 30 mph and had know power ....That might be something that is going on here also ....Thanks again for the feedback .
