Front Band. Can't get a grip on it.

I was going to try and adjust the Front Band, but I can't seem to get a grip on the locknut. I've tried a socket and a crowfoot, with two different extensions with no luck. How do you guys do it? Do you disconnect the valve levers and everything in the way?
