Hey all, I need some help. I have 99 dodge ram 1500 4x4 318. Tonight while driving i noticed a binding in my front end while making right turns. It doesnt do it all the time but every time a make a right turn you can hear a binding/grinding for about 2 seconds and then it quits. It will also do this if going straight and hit say a pothole or speedbump.

I havent had a chance to jack it up yet going to do that in the morning to see if play in the right wheel. Also while stopped i turned the stearing wheel hard to the right and then hard to the left and repeated this and there was no binding at all.

any help would be great.

Need to have a look, pay special attention to the u-joints, and wheel bearings. (and make sure the P/S fluid level is up to snuff.)

Are you in 4x4 by accident? Its normal for there to be some binding in the front end when turned to the extreme's in 4x4. I try to never go more than 1 revolution of the wheel in 4x4.

So i jacked the truck up...wheel bearings, ball joints, and u joints all look good. I believe I found the problem. But i dont know for sure yet. The connection between the sway bar/stabilizer bar and the axle/lower coil spring mount is broken. There is a link that is a ball and socket type joint and the ball is completly out of the socket on the drivers side. Would this cause the grinding and binding that i mentioned during right turns and also bumps?
