Default My first time doing ball joints today....

and what a learning curve...lol...got one lower done, thats it...should be easier from here on out though, I hope.

My complications are more from the press tool, rather than the work itself. the OEM ball joint flange that seats up against the control arm is much larger then the aftermarket joints flange and doesnt quite fit the reciever cups for the pressing tool...and the tool itself needs about an inch more throat in the C clamp...we ended up having to use a flat piece of steel to get the new one pressed in...it worked though.

Will do the other three tomorrow, now that we have a pretty good set up going.

Great. I haven't check on my truck yet, but PO neglected everything, so I am guessing that it may need to be done. 160K on clock.

Whata brand were the replacements you are using?

I understand the irritated thing. Sometimes I have to walk away from something for a while to shake it off and come back focused.

Good luck.

Thanks...I am using NAPA Chassis Parts brand, all greasable too...got all four of them for about $90...I am right at 85,000 miles on mine. when we got the knuckle off the passenger side, which is where all my creaking noises were coming from, I could take my pinky and with 0 effort, move the stem on the ball joint 360 degrees...the lower joint was rusted to hell and literally ROTTING...

I've not payed much attention to the bottom ball joints but the top ball joints on my 01 are bolt on.

Gotta grind off the rivets though.
