the only problem i could see with running used tires is knowing which direction which tires have been spinning most of its life. i have heard of people blowing belts in the tires after running tires the opposite way that they have been spinning all there lives.

Have a tire shop put in a patch plug and forget about it if the plug is in the tread. If it is on the sidewall then I wouldn't bother with that tire, I would find another with a similar tread pattern that is the same size from a used tire shop to replace it with. The tire shops around here charge $25 per tire for truck tires.

no problems with running tires that are plugged in the tread, provided it doesn't leak. if it does leak - replug it with a kit from walmart or parts store.

You should never put a plug on the sidewall...

Or in the tread within an inch of the sidewall.

Plugs are fine, patches are better the combo ones are the best.

I would say run them for a couple days easy to make sure they have no problems then take them for a ride to hell and if they survive go at it, dry rot is not good but doesnt always make a tire useless.

You do realize that if you rotate your tires properly the direction is going to change right?

yeah i told my tire tech that put them on about that theory and he shot it down quick!

but i must say they look great on my truck. however, i guess the tires i had before were so worn that im not used to the mud tires (they are mickey thompson baja mtz) and man they make for a bumpy ride around town!

technitions bullet=== 90% of shops are now being told my tire manufactors NOT to Cross rotate tires. to keep the tire rotating in the same direction. Cross rotation causes broken belts and excessive return wear.
