!981 Dodge D250 Hard re-starting
I am a new member of the Dodge forum and not sure exactly the best place to post my question. I recently purchased a 1981 Dodge D250, 4 brl. 390 V8. 45,000 original miles, many new parts. This truck was well maintained and runs like new. Here is my problem. It cold starts fine after pumbing the gas pedal twice. After it runs for 30 minutes or so it is difficult to re-start hot. I had a mechanic familiar with the carburator make adjustments for high altitude, set the timing, etc. It still leaves me stranded at times by not re-starting. To "hot start" it you have to hold the gas peddle down and wait for it to fire (doesn't always work) and the smell of gas is very strong. My mechanic says I don't need a new carburator, but I would like to solve this issue so I can depend on it to start up once its run. Any ideas? Or is there a better post I can place this so others can comment. He said he replaced a burnt condensor and also blocked off a hose that he said wasn't necessary to the carb.
