Angry Rear slider Still leaks!

I sealed up my 3rd brake light with a good amount of silicone since it seems like thats what was causing my leak into my rear slider.Well today its raining and the leaks still there behind the passenger seat near the top corner of the slider. I looked at the gasket for the window it seems ok. should i get a new window?or would you order a new 3rd brake light?if I need a new 3rd brake light I will buy a new one not used so it will cause more issues, but my luck its ill replace the 3rd brake light and ill still have the leak, how do I find out if its the window or the 3rd brake light causing the leak?. any info will help. thanks.

aftermarket 3rd brake lights are notorious for leaking...new or used...I would get someone to hold a hose and have them run water along the top edge of the backglass and you sit in the cab and try to see if it's the window leaking...then have them hold ot over the brake light...

If it's the window, it may just need to be resealed...but it should be fixed ASAP...you dont want the cab rusting under the backglass there and cause major problems...

Mine leaked into the front passenger floor. would be a lake. Mine was coming into the rear window seal by way of the black strips on the roof above the side windows, a straight path for the water. the sealant they used has dried out and cracked..

I sealed (with adhesive sealant) from black strip to strip straight across the back and around the 3rd brake light and have not had a leak since....

I use this stuff all the time since finding it at Advance Auto...

You can also just replace the slider window with a solid one. My 97 Ram slider window was leaking and since I never open the rear window anyways I just put a solid one in there. More secure and much less likely to ever develop a leak.

wow thanks for the pic ill seal it right where you did.you think I should seal around the whole rear slider to?from the looks of that pic it looks as if he did.but getting a solid window I was thinking of also but sometimes I pickup up wood that wont fit in my 6 foot bed so if I open the slider It will fit in.out of all the ford trucks I had not one of them leaked from the rear slider of 3rd brake light so it has to be a dodge issue.grrrr great info thanks guys!

If it were me, I'd get a small cheap screwdriver and bend it. Slide it behind the gasket and stick the end of a tube of silicone in there and go around the whole window. (top and sides anyway).Same with those roof gaskets.

+1 that is just what I did. Same as the picture and around the sides and top. the stuff I used had a really solid tip and was real easy to get behind the rubber and just filled it up and cleaned up the little bit that squeezed out....

Had the same problem with my 09 ram,it seems to be the 3rd brake light because I pulled down the headliner to check for the leak as water was sprayed around rear window and brake light. It appears to come from the brake light. Basically siliconed the s**t out of the back of brake light. Lets see what happens tomorrow when I get in to go to work. What a pain in the a**.
