With it in the position you state, put your foot on the brake and see if truck will start. It should only start in Park or Neutral. If it is actually in Reverse. It should be a little harder to move lever from Reverse to Park as you are also moving the park rod. Double check and puch a little harder to see if you can ove it into Park.

Default Wont go into park - solved!

Does anyone know if there is a O ring that goes between the valve body and the transmission?
My son and I reajusted both bands and put everything back together.
10 quarts of ATF +4 later, a test run to 50 MPH, and everything runs smooth.
Until today......My son found a O ring left in the oil pan. He found it after he used the same pan to change the oil in his 3 wheeler. I hope its his O ring.

Oh look! The band anchor has dropped out.

My anchor dropped of just like that, but landed in the pan instead of on top of valve body.

Her are th 3 O-rings from the Governor Solenoid (two on the right) and the left one is from the pressure sensor. (This is from a 46RE - don't know if it is the same for your 47.)
