Coolant level dropping ? No visible leaks.
Im 25 years old, its just stress pains you know when you get that sinking fealing.
Anyway if you dont think 1 inch or so is a lot in 3 weeks then i guess ill just fill it back up a little and keep watching it. Well i dont really need to fill it back up cause right now when its cold its on the "cold" line so its where its suppose to be.
Just when i filled it up i put it on the HOT line, oh and i checked the level when it was cold and it dropped another half inch obviously so technicly its lost bout 1 1/2 inchs of coolant.
I had a couple friends smell my exhaust and they deff said it smells normal so im not burning coolant. Anyway, I'll just keep watching it like you said and try not to fret over it. Oh and yes i did burp the car. I filled it up till bubbles stopped coming up and it was parked on a hill engine up, i always squeezed the hoses to get all the air out then ran the engine with the cap off let it warm up and revved it to get rest of the air out. But who knows i guess i missed some of it..
Its just that 1 inch in the reservoir is about 2-3 full measuring cups. My cap is brand new someone mentioned the cap, the only thing i havent replaced on the cooling system is the upper and lower radiator hoses, and the thermostat oh and the radiator. I've replaced everything else on it, that little hose on the neck of the waterpump, the waterpump itself, the bypass tube o ring, the gasket on the timing cover, the timing chain and gears, and the electric fan motor (its Jeep)..
Thanks for the boost in confidence

One more thing i noticed today was the coolant in the overflow tank looks cloudy almost. Like if i look through the openeing down i cant see the botton, and the little plastic bobing thing for the sensor that tells you the coolant level i can barely see also.
If i shine a flash light in it tho it seems to be clear almost. I checked my mom's Jeep and the coolant is really clean and clear looking i could see the bottom of the overflow tank easily.

Well i changed the coolant in the block and flushed the radiator with a garden hose when i got it a year ago, the timing cover gasket was fixed 2 months ago that required another change in coolant, and replacing my water pump 3 weeks ago was another coolant change... i think ive done enough coolant changes.
I put the coolant in a glass next to the clear coolant in the other Jeeps reservoir. Mine i guess looks pretty good but its just a tad cloudy, like white cloudy not brown

mine has a rust colored tint to it.. after several flushes...
two items: one, the previous owner likely never changed it.. that stuff becomes acidic at some point, and eats away at whatever it touches.. second: some floggin' clown at one of those quick lube places went to top off the washer fluid, and instead filled the overflow.. It took me about two days to figure out what happened.. The coolant was a congealed/coagulated mess.. I flushed it literally with a water hose and tap water.. for like two hours.. both directions... then the radiator.. when I was done with that I drove it up to the shop not far from my house and put it on a flush machine which ran 50/50 through one end and out the other (into a bucket) until I was satisfied it was mostly 50/50 and no pockets of tap water remained.. THEN, I ran it on the machine in full circuit for an additional 10 or fifteen minutes just to be sure..
I'd like to get my hands on that rascal who put that crap in the overflow..
anyway, something else to add:
try your level best not to mix green and orange coolant.. they will coagulate.. never use tap water- it will turn acidic in quick order.. 50% demineralized water, and 50% coolant (I prefer orange fwiw) will keep the pH from the acidic side of the scale a LOT longer than just demineralized water will, and about 50x longer than just tap water.. the only reason I flushed with a hose like I did as I knew it was coming out of there quickly, and I couldn't figure that it was any worse than what was in there..
when I did the plenum the first time, and saw the coolant passages on the keg I figured I was nearing the end of that engine it was so rusty and corroded.. turns out that is common (according to several folks I talked with) but not exactly a good thing..
the guy who put the window washing fluid in the overflow did so about a week before I pulled my camper about 2k miles over a four day period.. I likely would not have gone to the extremes I did if that trip wasn't about to happen.. I'm glad I did.

lol sounds like your coolant system is a mess lol ^^^
Na i know to use distilled water, i just buy the pure green antifreeze and put half with distrilled water gallons from the store. Mine isnt rusty never has been, its just a little cloudy a tad. Like it has some cornstarch in it or something, but it doesnt look outa the ordinary yet.
